Product description

The Kanpachi, Amberjack, a fish belonging to the Carangidae family within the order Perciformes, prefers warm currents and more than half of the national consumption is produced in Kinko Bay in Kagoshima Prefecture. Young fish, up to about 30 cm in length, have a band in the shape of an "8" on their head, which gives the fish its name, "Kanpachi." since 8 in Japanese is pronounced “hachi (pachi)”. It is popular as sashimi, salt-grilled, teriyaki, and sushi topping. Its peak season is from summer to autumn.
